Instrumental Music Parents Club
September 13, 2010
MHS at 7:30 P.M.

Joan Kindsfather called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM and began with introductions and a review of the clubs past fundraisers. Joan welcomed students in attendance.
Thank you notes were read.
Steve Fink reported that the starting balance is $6,466.
With the deductions for outstanding expenses of the band lunch and the first football game balance is $6,178.
Steve reviewed the typical expenditures:
Membership is growing. Members will promote the club at Back to School night.

Requirements for participation were reviewed including scales, sight reading and musical selections. Details can be obtained at SJBODA.org. Auditions are held in December. No photocopied music is accepted.
Mr. Jones is currently out on medical leave

Joan Kindsfather reported that she met with Mr. Siebel and Dr. Yarwood to discuss music in the High School
MoorArts has created an awards program to increase recognition of students that participated in the Arts. The Awards include:
2D Art Most Promising and Most Distinguished
3D Art Most Promising and Most Distinguished
Band Solo and Ensemble Performance
Orchestra Solo and Ensemble Performance
Jazz Band Solo and Ensemble Performance
Theater Male and female
Vocal Male and female
Foul Weather Gear
The history of the club’s efforts in obtaining funding was reviewed with new members. It was agreed to move forward with this project. Members agreed to help petition Home and School and MoorArts in addition to funds raised by the IMPC.
Tentative dates were reviewed for a Parents Social in October.
A variety of fundraisers were discussed. Among those proposed were car washes, restaurant benefit night, yard sale, bake sale, candy sale and fruit sale. It was agreed that students should be given the opportunity to participate in are encouraged to help determine which efforts are selected.
Dates for Café Night were discussed and it was determined that the date would have to be set at the November Meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15.
