Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
A. Kohart provided the Treasurer’s report, stating the following:
Ms. Burke was unable to find contact information for the student who had not cashed last year’s scholarship check.
April 27, 2016 Minutes
Upon motion and second, the minutes were accepted.
A. DeRosa stated she would help with the dinner for the orchestra members playing at the Senior Recognition Reception. The expectation was that there would be 30-34 orchestra members. Wing King would deliver to the school, and A. DeRosa would provide 2 to 3 cases of water.
C. Norris stated that the band does not typically have refreshments for the commencement ceremony (to be held on June 22), but that he was sure many members would appreciate having water available. Regina Hartshorne agree to bring water for the band.
C. Norris thanked the IMPC, and G. Morris in particular, as she will be departing the IMPC. He noted that there is a large contingents of graduates this year, but that he expected to have about 83 students in concert band in SY 2016-17.
A. Kohart stated that she still needs the names of those to whom scholarships are being awarded. C. Norris stated he would provide names for recipients shortly.
C. Norris noted that Matt Eng’s recital had to be changed to Sunday, but that doing so resulted in an increase in costs for the rental of the piano. C. Norris stated he would like to use some of the $1,200 provided for scholarships to fund the recital. After some discussion, Ed Kirn agreed to provide substantial funding in addition to funds from the AP Pilot Incentive Program, rather than using the scholarship funds, or the IMPC contributing to the recital costs.
Fundraising for SY 2016-17
There was discussion about fundraising opportunities for SY 2016-17. Because of the success of the Western Burlington County Honors Band dinners and concessions, the IMPC urged Mr. Norris to look into whether the WBCHB practices and concert could be held at Moorestown again, rather than at Cinnaminson.
There was a suggestion to have a competition (Battle of the Honors Jazz Bands) to raise funds. Both the Recreation Center’s Improv nights and Acapella for Autism held at the Community House seem to draw decent crowds.
Since the prior meeting, two additional volunteers had indicated an interest in providing support to the IMPC, as G. Morris and Robin Crowl depart. After some discussion, it was agreed that A. Kohart and D. Pizzi would continue in their current capacities on the IMPC, rather than changing positions. Christine Holmbeck had volunteered to take on Membership, and Jeremy Minarcik volunteered to take on the role of co-President for the Band. So, the composition of the IMPC officers will be as follows:
A. DeRosa will get the license so that the IMPC will have the opportunity to offer both gift baskets and 50/50 raffles. Concert dates were not yet determined, but were expected to be shortly.
The next meeting is yet to be determined.
The meeting ended at 8:25 P.M.
