Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M.
A. Burke noted the following upcoming events for the orchestra:
A. Burke discussed providing dinner for the orchestra members playing at the Seniors Recognition Reception, and it was agreed that the IMPC would pay for pizza and water to feed about 34 students. She said that pizza would be ordered through the MHS cafeteria from Wing King in order to receive discount pricing, and Wing King will deliver it to the school.
It was noted that the IMPC does not supply food or other refreshments for the commencement ceremony, but C. Norris requested the IMPC pay for/provide water for the Memorial Day Ceremony.
Report on Western Burlington County Honors Band (WBCHB)
It was agreed that activities surrounding the WBCHB were successful. Pizza and water were provided on three evenings (24 pizzas on the first evening, 32 on the second, and 40 on the third), and candy, chips, and water were available during the concert on the final evening. The IMPC ended with $1,300 in profit from the pizza sales, and additional funds from water, candy and chips. A little candy and chips were left over, and it was agreed that chips can be used at the concert receptions.
C. Norris noted there were many kudos to Moorestown for the WBCHB operations, which ran very smoothly. He also noted that this year, the WBCHB high school members played for the junior high members, and vice versa, before the final performance, and both WBCHB groups found it very helpful.
A. Kohart presented the Treasurer’s Report. She reported a cash balance on 4/27/16 of $8,624.86, which included revenue totaling $2,775.50 since 2/8/16 from deposits of membership donations ($50), proceeds from two 50-50 raffles ($142.50 and $39) and two gift baskets raffles ($230 and $280) from the Spring band and orchestra concerts respectively, monies from the Western Burlington Alliance ($225), and proceeds from fundraising at the WBCHB ($1,809). She noted that this total resulted after the $2,000 contribution to the new sound system for the large instrumental practice room, but that some bills remained to be paid, which would bring the total down to about $7,500.
Scholarships and other Pending Liabilities
After discussions, it was determined that the known potential liabilities remaining for this school year include:
It was noted that instrumental students are also eligible for awards through MoorArts.
A. Kohart stated that a student who received a scholarship in 2015 had not cashed the check, and it was noted that this has happened before, and the IMPC issues an additional check if there is contact information for the student. A. Kohart said she would look into it.
Projects for SY2016-2017
Following discussion, no specific projects were determined for SY2016-2017. However, A. Burke requested that the IMPC fund the cost of the bus for the senior trip in SF2016-2017 (to the Kimmel Center). In addition, it was agreed that the IMPC would pursue avenues to increase outreach for concerts, and attendance, hopefully.
G. Morris’ son graduates this year, and she will resign as co-President for the Band. J. Minarcik stated that she believed R. Crowl’s son is also graduating, which would leave the Membership Chair open. After some discussion, it was agreed that current officers whose children continued to be in the band and/or orchestra would continue serving as follows:
The next meeting is scheduled for June 6, 2016 at 7:30 in the small instrumental practice room.*
*The meeting was originally scheduled for June 7th, but changed due to a conflict.
